N°1. THE NARRATIVE
The Commonwealth Divide
With a desire to let melodies amplify the imagery and depth of their lyrics, The Commonwealth Divide share real life stories with their Folk/Americana sound while reminding us all that getting through the hard things is what makes life, and the music, worth it. Both with extensive backgrounds in church music and congregational leading, Chad Minchew (From Texas) and Kennedi Christopher (From South Carolina) set out to use those experiences to both inform their songwriting and help them to draw out the raw emotion that comes from telling the difficult truths of this life.
Intentional harmonies and their voices weaving in and out of each others is a nod to the artists that have inspired them, like The Civil Wars and Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors. The Commonwealth Divide looks to place listeners inside the uncomfortable themes this world brings and allow for the beauty of the lyrics, harmonies and melodies to let them know that everything will be alright.
